Sodagun! Shocked  I met that fellow during a sara solo as I recall. I used to have him added and he was in the nest for about 2 weeks. He then became angry about not having received any rank-ups during those 2 weeks and subsequently left. This happened before eoc was released.

In response to your question I would definitely say yes.

If he was there before you I'll go against the majority here and say that you should have jumped. For me it's the same courtesy as hopping when you arrive at a slayer spot that is already occupied. He is being a Gan_real for sure but if you had hopped immediately it wouldn't have happened.

If you were there first it changes the situation completely and you were definitely correct in standing your ground.
