I often read on threads how Jagex do not care and do nothing but sit back and take our money to play Runescape(something i have never agreed with).Well when reading the newspaper this morning i came across this item which goes to show that Jagex does care and takes our accounts very seriously. I for one would like to thank all Jagex staff for their hard work in cracking down on account hackers and hope they prosecute to the full extent of the law. Hopefully this will deter others from doing the same.
Virtual Kidnaps lead to arrest
A Briton stole virtual characters after hacking into the internet’s biggest free multiplayer game. The unidentified cyber criminal nabbed characters – which players spend years creating in the “medieval universe” – from the online RuneScape game. The thief, from Avon Somerset, was cautioned by police after being arrested last Tuesday by officers from the Central Police e-Crime Unit.”Our first and only concern is protecting our player community as we know the high value players place on their unique accounts,” said Mark Gerhard, chief executive of Jagex Games, which launched Runescape in 2001.It now has 100million active players.
